Guru, of the duo Gangstarr, is prepping the second release on his 7 Grand label, entitled Jazzmatazz Vol. 4.
The new album follows up the mildly successful 2006 release, Version 7.0: The Street Scriptures, which enjoyed heavy spins on New York's Hot 97 radio station with the album's second single, "Hood Dreamin'," and was hailed by such media outlets as The Source and the NY Post, among others.
Nine months after the label's first release, the duo of Guru and Solar are working hard at finalizing the fourth install of Guru's Jazzmataz series, which will be a double-disc endeavor that will be entirely produced by Solar and co-produced by Guru.
"7 Grand Records allows me not only to be creative, but to finally be in control of my creativity," explains Guru. "With us, you've got a legendary spitter that's still hungry and still relevant, teamed up with the hottest New York producer in the game, which makes for a musical vision that is powerfully important and virtually unstoppable."
"The tracks Solar and I have laid down are incredible and it's going to be the best Jazzmatazz yet," Guru adds.
Jazzmatazz Vol. 4 is expected to drop in early 2007.
